Complaints of the uterus, cervix and cervix

What are the complaints of the uterus, cervix and cervix?
Common complaints include:
- Changes in vaginal discharge;
- Abnormal bleeding, i.e. outside of menstruation;
- Contact bleeding, for example when inserting a tampon or during sex.
All these complaints also occur in women who do not have (pre-stage of) cervical cancer. Nevertheless, it is wise to keep a close eye on the progression of your complaints and not to wait too long to consult your GP.
Have your complaints investigated
Are you experiencing uterine complaints? Do not continue to suffer from them for too long and ask your GP for help. There are various tests that can show what is causing your complaint. Often, a smear is taken first, which is examined for the presence of abnormal cells. This can be done by your GP. Sometimes an internal examination is also performed, which is called a colposcopy. During a lisexcision, a piece of the cervix is removed for further examination. A colposcopy and a lisexcision are usually performed by a medical specialist, for example at the Womens Healthcare Center Amsterdam. Our gynaecologists and other medical specialists are very experienced in women's care and in all problems that can arise with the uterus, cervix and cervix.
Additional examinations are also regularly performed in the form of blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays, scans or internal examination of the vagina and bladder.
The diagnosis of complaints of the uterus, cervix and cervix
The results of the examination will be discussed with you in detail. In most cases, the examination will make it clear what the next steps are. When you first go to the GP with your complaint, there is nothing to say about the treatment of your complaint. This is entirely dependent on the diagnosis.
