The Women’s Healthcare Center (WHC) Amsterdam believes that the personal data of visitors and patients must be handled with the utmost care. In processing personal data, WHC Amsterdam complies with the law General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other privacy legislation.
Privacy
If you are a patient with us, we process your personal data. By processing, we mean actions such as storing your data, updating it, sharing it with your healthcare providers, and eventually deleting it after a certain period. When you are treated by us, your medical data will be processed and recorded in your patient file.
This is necessary to provide you with the best possible care. WHC Amsterdam implements appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss or unlawful use. Individuals who have access to your data on behalf of WHC Amsterdam are bound by strict confidentiality obligations.
Information about how we process your data when you visit our website can be found in our Cookie Policy.
What and why?
For proper (medical) treatment, it is necessary to collect information about you: your health status, results of examinations, diagnosis, and treatment plans. These are recorded in a medical file. In addition to your medical data, we also need other personal details such as your name, address, and date of birth. This information is necessary to identify you and to ensure that we do not confuse you with another patient.
In some cases, we are legally obliged to share certain personal data with other parties, such as sending an invoice to your health insurance provider. As a hospital, we are also legally required to monitor the quality of our care and to contribute to the quality of healthcare in the Netherlands. Sometimes, we must provide data to national registries for this purpose. If necessary for your treatment or health, we will inform your referring (general) practitioner about the key findings. We do not share data unless it is necessary.
For all data, we ensure that we do not process more information than is needed to provide you with proper care. All healthcare providers and staff directly involved in your treatment are legally bound to confidentiality and will not share your data with others unless there is a legal or medical necessity. If we believe it is important to share your data with others, you have the right to decide, and we will ask for your consent. You are, of course, free to say no. This will not affect your treatment. In emergencies or urgent situations, we may be forced to make decisions on your behalf. Your health is always our top priority.
