What is radiology?
Radiology is a medical specialty that uses imaging techniques to visualize the inside of the body. Through radiological examination, a doctor can obtain accurate information about a patient's health condition and determine appropriate treatment. At the Women's Healthcare Center, you can come for an ultrasound and a mammogram, among other procedures.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a widely used and safe imaging technique that uses sound waves to map structures in the body. This examination is used for a wide range of applications, such as assessing abdominal organs, muscles, and tendons, as well as during pregnancies and prostate examinations. Because ultrasound does not use radiation, it is an accessible and repeatable examination method.
Mammography
Mammography is a specific form of radiological examination aimed at imaging breast tissue. This examination is primarily performed for the early detection of breast conditions, such as lumps or other abnormalities. Although mammography is often associated with breast cancer screening in women, it can also be relevant for men in some cases, for example, in the presence of symptoms of breast complaints.
