What is radiology?
Radiology is a medical specialty that uses imaging techniques to view the inside of the body. Radiological examinations help doctors obtain accurate information about a patient’s condition and determine appropriate treatment. At Women's Healthcare Center, you can visit us for procedures such as ultrasound and mammography.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a widely used and safe imaging technique that uses sound waves to create images of structures in the body. This examination is used for a wide range of applications, such as assessing abdominal organs, muscles, and tendons, as well as during pregnancy and for prostate examinations. Because ultrasound does not use radiation, it is an accessible and easy repeatable examination.
Mammography
Mammography is a specific type of radiological examination used to image breast tissue. This examination is primarily used for the early detection of breast conditions, such as lumps or other abnormalities. Although mammography is often associated with breast cancer screening in women, it can also be relevant for men in some cases, for example when experiencing breast symptoms.
