Causes of heavy bleeding
Heavy blood loss causes various physical consequences. These include fatigue, anemia, lower resistance and severe pain. There are various causes that can cause abnormal blood loss. Many women only experience it after the age of 35. It can occur after stopping the pill, but fibroids and polyps can also cause the symptoms.
- Disruption of the hormone balance
Hormones are usually the cause of heavy bleeding. When the production of estrogen and progesterone is not in balance, a hormonal imbalance occurs. This causes abnormal bleeding and occurs mainly in young women and women in the premenopause.
- Polyps
Polyps are mucosal growths on a stalk and occur in the uterus and the cervix. When polyps grow they become fragile and can start to bleed. Polyps in the uterus or cervix can cause heavy blood loss.
- Myomas
A fibroid is also often called a fibroid and is a benign tumor in or on the uterus. A fibroid is generally not dangerous but can cause heavy blood loss. Hormones play a role in fibroids: the higher the hormone level, the faster the fibroids grow. Fibroids usually develop at a later age.
- Bleeding disorders
Heavy blood loss can also be caused by bleeding disorders. This has to do with blood clotting and is a serious condition. This condition requires medical treatment and should not be continued for too long.
- uterine lining
During the menstrual cycle, the lining of the uterus thickens so that a fertilized egg can implant. If the egg is not fertilized, the excess lining is shed, this is menstruation. When the lining of the uterus is thick, more blood loss can occur. In some cases, this is extremely heavy blood loss.
