Who is a gynecological check-up suitable for?
The gynecological check-up is intended for women who want to understand the state of their fertility, who have specific questions about the menopause, or who experience symptoms related to their menstrual cycle You are also very welcome for a consultation if you would like more insight into your gynecological health.
What questions can we answer during a gynecological check-up?
- You want insight into your fertility.
- You suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding
- Your menstruation is very irregular.
- You are experiencing unpleasant menopausal symptoms.
- Is your menstrual cycle normal?
- You would like a routine gynaecological check-up
You do not necessarily need to have a specific symptom to schedule a gynecological check-up. The aim is for you to gain insight into your body and be able to detect potential problems early. Periodic check-ups are recommended to maintain control over your health and to avoid leaving symptoms untreated. From the age of 30, you will receive an invitation every 5 years for the cervical cancer screening program. Participation is free of charge. If you experience symptoms sooner or would like an extra check-up, please ask your GP for a referral. It is important to note that the costs for this will be at your own expense.
Is a gynecological examination possible during menstruation?
Yes, a gynecological examination is possible even during your period. However, it is beneficial to schedule the check-up at the beginning of your cycle, when the uterine lining is thinner and the ovaries are less active, which allows for a more accurate examination.
What does a gynecological examination at Women's Healthcare Center involve?
At Women's Healthcare Center, we start with an accessible consultation to understand how you are doing and what your needs are. We will send you a questionnaire in advance, which we will discuss together during the appointment. During a gynecological history taking, we gain a clear picture of your medical history and current symptoms.
Next, we perform a physical examination, both external and internal, during which we examine the vagina, uterus, and ovaries. If necessary, we take additional blood tests or perform microbiological (culture) and/or pathological examinations, for example by taking a smear or collecting tissue samples for laboratory analysis.
Is a gynecological examination possible without a referral?
Yes, you can visit us for a gynecological check-up without a referral, but the costs will be at your own expense. You can find more information about this on our Insurances page.
