Frank Kho, gynecologist is the founder of Women's Healthcare Center (WHC) Amsterdam. WHC Amsterdam was founded in 1979 as an outpatient clinic of the Lutheran Diakonese Hospital (LDI) and the Juliana Hospital (JZ). A merger of these two hospitals and the Amsterdam Noord hospital created the BovenIJ hospital. From 1987, WHC Amsterdam functioned as an outpatient clinic of the BovenIJ Hospital in Amsterdam.

On November 23, 2007, the WHC Amsterdam received recognition/authorization from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and has been a recognized Independent Treatment Center (ITC or in Dutch: ZBC) ever since.
